"Very impressed. We traveled from England to spend Christmas in Chicago with the American half of our family and needed to be able to coordinate the movements and meetings of a lot of different people."

"The fact that we were able to contact each other easily on a local number made life a lot easier. The availability of unlimited data on the move actually ended up saving us money: we were able to rely entirely on Uber rather than hiring a car. Then there was the added bonus of being able to talk to family back in the UK over the Christmas holiday for no additional charge. The Telaway service was, as advertised, "plug and play". The SIM card started working within seconds of our arrival in Chicago and never let us down. We will definitely be using the service again for future trips. Thank you for making our lives so much easier!""

"Once I had my phone unlocked by Vodafone my worry was would the Telaway sim work trouble free and without set up issues when I arrived in the Sates."

"I needn't have worried. As soon as I landed in Philadelphia my phone with the Telaway sim installed picked up a signal with no problems. I had fast access to the internet, and no problems whatsoever making and receiving calls even to and from the UK."

"Constant access to the internet whilst I was travelling around. Access to Google made life so much easier. New town? Where should we go for lunch? Google bakeries and next thing we are sitting in a local bakery eating the best non chain, non fast food sandwich. As to the coverage, while T-Mobile is reportedly not the most extensive U.S. coverage provider it was certainly sufficient for our needs, so that wasn't an issue either.

I always rely on my husband to set things up for me but I got him to put the SIM card into my phone prior to leaving and then I just switched it on and got started when I arrived. Very easy. I didn't use the voice mail service because I was on holiday and didn't need it."

"The best feature was having unlimited access to call or text and use the internet. I loved being able to use the internet when I needed it. I have traveled to the US on many many occasions and it is the worst place to try and find anything like a phone card or a SIM to call back to Australia. They simply don't exist. I have been stuck using a hotel phone which I nearly had to re-mortgage my house to pay the hotel phone bill. I could not believe how clear the calls were it certainly didn't sound like I was standing in New York when I was calling Australia. "The biggest concern prior to the trip to the USA was that the purchased SIM would work as advertised when I got to the USA. The last thing I wanted to do was be in a situation late at night trying to contact the help line after such a long flight… The Telaway offer looked too good to be true and was half expecting it not to work…."

"On arriving to the USA and replacing the SIM card and restarting the iPhone the service provide was absolutely superb. It did exactly what was advertised. Excellent cell coverage providing voice, sms and data throughout my stay. The ability to provide a UK number for those contacting you from the UK was a real plus and the ability to phone UK numbers in the included plan is a unique selling point. All in all an excellent service which I would recommend and use again for sure.… excellent product and service delivering exactly as advertised.....cannot ask for more."

"Being able to make several phone calls immediately on arrival. Use the phone as a GPS to navigate with travel data direct from the airport. And finally, on the way home, downloading the UK newspapers to read on the plane."

"Yes. Although more expensive than buying a SIM card abroad, you can use it on arrival where you may need it most."

"The service was excellent, sim worked really well…. I purchased the sim for my son to use over the summer whilst working in the states... "That I would get data & calls. I was travelling through California, Nevada, Utah & Arizona."

So how was it?
"I thought the system worked perfectly. Data worked straight away, but I had misread the letter that came with the sim telling me I had to prefix the calls to the UK with 011. I emailed customer service... This solved the problem and from then on we were away."

"I received the SIM Card in plenty of time and absolutely loved it. I was able to keep in touch with our 16 & 14 Year Old Children we had left home with relatives and obversely they could keep in touch with us." [The best part was] "The Phone Service & The Unlimited Data."

"Absolutely and I already have to all my travelling companions and to two other people since coming back."

Did you have any concerns when you bought a Telaway SIM?
"Not my first trip to the US and have got into the habit of buying SIMs before I go. But they are becoming harder to find. My concern was therefore about finding a suitable solution."

What was your experience? What was the best part?
"Telaway is a suitable solution. A little expensive but cost effective for regular callers. I didnt like that the numbers werent available early (so that I could notify people who needed to get in touch with me)… Being able to call almost anyone and not worry about the cost was good. In addition, being able to use data without worrying about stupid excess charges was really good."

"Wondering if it was going to be fully functional when putting the sim card in once in the US. I also had concerns about how much data I would be able to use."

"I have had hit-or-miss experience on the T-Mobile network while driving on the I-95. However, since I was a travel writer given the product for free to test, there was no harm in trying it out."

How was your Telaway experience?
"Extremely surprised and impressed that I would get LTE speeds in the towns of which I was staying it. Of course, still, the service of T-Mobile is hit or miss along the I-95, but that is to be expected. Extremely happy with the unlimited data. Call quality was also very good."

Did you have any concerns before you got to America?
"We were worried it might not work and be hard to use, etc., especially after reading a couple reviews saying it was not easy to use the card!!!!!!"

So how was it?
"I can only think those reviews were written by aliens. It was as easy as using my mobile in UK. It saved us a fortune and we will definitely use Telaway again. [the best was] Having the freedom of being in touch where ever we were. To be able to have a holiday without worrying coming back to a huge phone bill. Having the fantastic fast 4G data for phone Nav and allowing the kids to stay in contact with their friends by text phone and face time. Great service."

Did you have any concerns before using Telaway?
"The process was foreign and I wasn't confident it was going to be as smooth as it was. Also, the data limit of 1.5GB (prior to shaping was a concern) given I knew I was going to spend more time online than normal." (note from Telaway: limit is now 3 GB)

Now that you're back from your trip, tell us about using Telaway!
"The service exceeded my expectation. I had coverage everywhere I went in the US. There were a few teething issues with setting up the APN on my devices that didn't automatically pull down the config but that was pretty straightforward to sort out... Unlimited calls to my travelling friends was great. It was good not having to worry about any limits, etc. I was less concerned about being accessible by my family back home in AU… I have already recommended the service to a number of friends who travel a lot."

How was your US trip with a Telaway SIM card?
"The card worked perfectly. No problems with its use and had coverage throughout. While I didn’t use the phone a huge amount was able to use the data feature regularly with little problem. I guess my only concern was the cost of the card versus value for money but not knowing what usuage figures I had, I guess I wont know."

Do you recommend Telaway for other Australian travellers to America?
"The unlimited feature for calls in USA and data usuage was excellent. Its surprising how much you rely on data availability whilst away from home. I know that free wireless is available in many facilities but I must say that is not always reliable or fast… I think I would recommend the card on the basis of unlimited features and the great coverage that is achieved."

Now that you've used Telaway more than once, how do you feel about the service?
"When considering the hassle of carrying multiple phones, maintaining contact when via the UK mobile number and the relative ease of use and setup the TelAway service makes lots of sense."

What’s your review of Telaway now that you’re back home?
"It works even better that what they claimed!!!!! I had a couple of issues with the call forwarding from home, but one call and they fixed the problem immediately. Phone worked great. Coverage was really good, and the data was excellent. I used it lots, both just on my moble, and as a hotspot for my laptop. Download were in the 15-20MBPS range. I was very happy with the service, and will be using it again, if i'm back in the USA on business. It was very nice to be able to look up phone numbers, check maps and directions, and even stream some Olympic Hockey events without having to worry about excessive data charges…. I think the best feature was the unlimited data, and the very fast 4G speeds. I was very impressed."

"I was worried about a few things. Would the SIM arrive before I left? Would the SIM work when I arrived in the USA? How good or bad would the network be?"

"4G was amazing. This enabled me to have unlimited internet during my business trip. Free UK mobiles was also very welcome… One day I could not phone the UK and emailed an urgent "help" turned out to [be] my fingers lol. "Before finding Telaway I was looking at having to find a mobile shop, get the right type of SIM, manage the credit on pay as you go..... Ugh. After getting the Telaway SIMs I guess I was just conserned with reception and whether there would be any set up issues."

"I was most concerned whether the SIM card was real and that it would work OK from the first moment I used it in the States: I had never dealt with TelAway before and I believed there was a risk that they could be scammers…. But the reality was brilliant! First of all, the SIM worked straight off the bat as soon as I switched my phone back out of flight mode at Boston airport. It continued to work very well throughout my stay - even in a conference where the hotel wifi was poor, I still got my emails etc. Of course, being able to walk round Boston and be able to find places on my iPhone was great. On top of that, my (first) dual SIM adaptor broke before I got to Heathrow and I sent a plea by email to TelAway to send me a Nano SIM instead of the standard one I originally ordered. The responded incredibly quickly and even called me when I was in the US to make sure everything was Ok with me - it was in the end because I bought another dual SIM adaptor on the plane."

So you would recommend Telaway?
"Yes, I sure would. The price for a few days trip is good value, the customer service is second to none and the SIM works too!"

"The SIM arrived very quick and enclosed was a very helpful little instruction manual. It was easy to use and upon landing in California the texting and calling service worked immediately. However the data did not. I sent an email to the customer service team and within a couple of hourse a received a very helpful call explaining what to do regarding some network settings and for the rest of my trip everything worked fine. Great signal, great service. [The best part was] unlimited data as I am always using apps like Facebook and Instagram. The unlimited texting and calling service is brilliant too as it allowed me to keep in contact with my partner while I was away….110% would recommend to anybody visiting the US. I've already ordered another SIM for my next trip!"

"I needn't have worried. The speed was excellent and the 2GB allowance at the faster speed was never even close to being used in the 2 weeks I was away. This included my usual high email use, WhatsApp, YouTube, Facebook as well as a heavy reliance on Google Maps for SatNav. I monitored my usage on the SIM and used about 1GB. Considering, in LA, I had free wireless at my Hotel and it was freely available in a lot of other places….the speed of my data connection via the SIM was quicker…. [the best parts about Telaway were] Speed of delivery of the SIM. Arrived in plenty of time for my trip. Communication was excellent when I had questions about the service and delivery. The actual usage was excellent and I didn't experience any problems. "

How would you review Telaway's service?
"worked in the San Diego area and Scottdale area. Texts worked. My phone (HTC Trophy) didn't download the APN details off the SIM (doesn't with my home SIM either), but was easily sorted with a phone call to the support desk… It provided me with the internet in the car to find and book things. Shops, dining without having to queue at the hotel computer... generally improved my vacation experience… Only place it didn't work was Death Valley but then neither does anything else. Great product priced right."

"Without a doubt, the data coverage. I was terrified of using my regular SIM as my service provider wanted to charge me £6 for every 1MB I used - this would have meant barely using my phone or facing a HUGE bill to come home to. Unlimited data meant that i could upload all my holiday picture to Facebook for my friends to see, to keep in touch with them on WhatsApp (TM) so it didn't cost them anything in calls or texts to the USA. Also, the amount of 4G coverage was impressive."

"I already have. The controlled amount of the SIM versus an unknown potentially huge bill at home will always be a winner. I'll definitely be back for another SIM next time I go to America!"

In fact, for the first few days, it rescued us as we were over to help my son and his family move to a new home and for a few days after we arrived, he had no internet service in the house.
